Authors’ bios:

Lenka L. Lukačovičová

Lenka L. Lukačovičová (1987) is a graduate of the Department of Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she currently teaches at the department and leads studio instruction for second-year bachelor’s students. Her work focuses on the photographic medium and its overlaps with installation and object-based art. She also explores possibilities and methods of exhibiting in public space. These projects have been presented at Paradajs Photo Fest in Banská Štiavnica and in Bratislava at locations such as the Zora Trnávka display case, trolleybus stops, and others.

She received an award in the contemporary photography competition Different Worlds (2021), focusing on Central and Eastern Europe. In 2022, she became a laureate of the Novum Foundation, and in 2025 she received a special distinction for her portfolio Lonely Planet (Trnávka) in the Anthropology and Territories category of the Urbanautica Institute Awards 2024, and became Photographer of the Year 2025.

Ema Lančaričová

Ema Lančaričová (1993) works at the intersection of instant photography, experimental practice, and critical theory. She uses Polaroid and other analogue processes as her primary tools, through which she explores the changing nature of photography today — its oscillation between presence and disappearance, material trace and ephemeral information.

Her work repeatedly returns to themes of visibility and invisibility, the instability of the image, and the temporal fragility of photographic materials. She understands each work as a small archaeology of the medium, through which she examines how images emerge, erode, and persist. Questions of authorship, material agency, and the limits of photography as trace run through her projects and shape an artistic research practice that connects physical experimentation with conceptual reflection.

Lančaričová completed her doctoral studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where she currently teaches and actively contributes to contemporary discussions on the changing ontology of photography. Her works have been presented in international solo and group exhibitions, including Fotohof (Salzburg), Rotlicht Festival (Vienna), Photon Gallery (Ljubljana), Fotografic Gallery (Prague), and Gandy Gallery (Bratislava).
