Annotation
Retro newspaper kiosks will feature works by visual artists, musicians, poets, performers, sociologists, and activists. The kiosks were provided for the project by visual artist Stano Masár and will remain in Žilina until the end of September.
Some authors were approached directly, but many responded to an open call that was also accessible to non-artists. We've decided to keep it open, so you're still welcome to join.

PNS is the abbreviation for "Poštová novinová služba" (Postal Newspaper Service), where newspapers, postcards, stamps, and tobacco were sold — it’s a newsstand, kiosk. We are transforming the newspaper kiosk into a gallery display or a community space, where artworks meet viewers in public space. PNS becomes a place for lively street-level interaction.
We aim to respond to the current alarming societal situation, the spread of disinformation and hoaxes, societal division, loss of trust in institutions, attacks on minorities and NGOs, and a departure from democratic values that connect us with Europe.
We invite you to enter into a dialogue with the public and public space — critically, provocatively, activistically, collaboratively, therapeutically, humanely, unifyingly — in the way that seems right and appropriate to you here and now.
This project is supported using public funds from the Slovak Arts Council.
