Prof. dr hab. Mgr. art. Patrik Kovačovský, *1970

lives and works in Bratislava. He studied sculpture at the AFAD in Bratislava and multimedia/film at AC in California, USA. He currently works as the head of the studio at the AFAD in Bratislava.

Patrik Kovačovský exhibited at prestigious exhibitions such as documenta in Kassel (1997), Biennale in Venice (1999), EXPO 2000 in Hanover, Multimedia and Film Biennial 2000 in Paris and many others. He works with experimental film, installation, photography, painting and sculpture.

Patrik Kovačovský prepared for the Korek gallery a specific set of 2D works with an overlap into a spatial relief called THIS IS NOT A PAINTING THIS IS NOT A SCULPTURE.

The main theme of the objects/paintings/reliefs is landscape and architecture. Only in one work he moves into space and sculpture with a figurative theme.

Some of the works are from his latest research (2019 - 2022), which follows the connection of digital processing of waste material with CNC technology, or his own "recycled materials" (for example, on the listed topics of the NASA agency - Moon settlement).

For his works, he uses a combination of leaves, flowers and waste from closed plant growing laboratories. This material is combined with waste, scraps and milled unnecessary parts of wooden semi-finished products, composite materials, but also rare woods. In a normal process, these would end up as a waste in a landfill, fuel, or wood chips. All necessary material for the exhibition, apart from own production and the principle of "no-waste creation", is purchased or received from European companies.

Due to the size of the Korek gallery, the presentation of works is only a small, but important example of his work mentioned above.
