In 2024, Pistori Palace hosted the exhibition Slovensko, krajina slov, developed as part of an educational project led by Lenka L. Lukačovičová, Dominika Jackuliaková and Eduard Kudláč. This first joint exhibition project brought the work of students from two year groups beyond the school environment and created a space for different artistic approaches, developed in parallel during the teaching process, to meet and be compared. In 2026, we return to Pistori Palace with the current two year groups and the exhibition Nové reality.

The exhibition title can be read in several ways. These new realities are realities that students enter through photography, as well as realities created by the photographic image itself. The individual projects draw on observations of the immediate environment, personal experience, identity, landscape, and social and technological change. Yet photography does not function solely as a tool for recording the world. It becomes a way of interpreting, reconstructing and staging it, and sometimes of creating possible worlds.

The exhibition therefore offers no single answer to the question of what photography is today. Instead, it reveals different ways of approaching it: from documentary observation through work with archives, appropriation and staging to images emerging at the boundary between the photographic and the generated. Their common starting point remains the question of how to use images to think about the reality we inhabit, as well as the realities we ourselves create through photography.

Nové reality thus builds on the previous project not only through successive generations of students, but also through its understanding of the exhibition as a continuation of the teaching process. Work produced in the studio during the semester moves into public space, where individual works enter into new relationships: with one another, with the architecture of the exhibition space and with the viewer.
