Description

This workshop will introduce you to building so-called streamboxes – small, portable DIY transmitters based on Raspberry Pi and DIY microphones designed for streaming sounds to the Locus Sonus sound map in Aix-Marseille (FR) (https://locusonus.org/soundmap/). You will learn how streamboxes can be used in artistic, scientific, and activist projects, including the REVEIL radio broadcast – a 24-hour live stream from around the world at sunrise for International Dawn Chorus Day.
You will learn how to assemble a streambox from a kit or from scratch, how to install it, monitor its operation, and use it directly in the field.
This is the first of two Soundcamp Cooperative workshops in Slovakia. The second will take place in Trenčín on June 7, 2026. The workshops are independent and not sequential – you can sign up for just one.
Workshop participants will contribute to live broadcasts from Bratislava and Trenčín, which will be presented during the event ÚÚÚ x PSSST: V SADE in Trenčín on June 7, 2025, in the afternoon.
SOUNDCAMP COOPERATIVE
SOUNDCAMP COOPERATIVE (2013–) is an international art collective based in London, Glasgow, Berlin, Lisbon, and Crete. Its members work on projects in the field of transmission ecologies, ranging from DIY broadcasting devices to public sound and radio art projects. As part of the Acoustic Commons network, they coordinate the long-running REVEIL radio broadcast (since 2014) for the annual Dawn Chorus Day, which this year took place on May 3–4 with sound art participation from around the world.
OOO ASSOCIATION
OOO ASSOCIATION was founded in spring 2020 in response to the need to create a dedicated space for exploring the world through sound art, contemporary music, and intermedia art. Founding members include musician, educator, and intermedia artist Fero Király, and dramaturge, cultural manager, and performer Eva Vozárová. The association's authorial and curatorial focus is on projects that delve into the complex relationships between human and more-than-human beings, engaging with fields such as acoustic ecology, deep listening, environmental and social issues, and disciplines like anthropology, philosophy, mathematics, and more. The association prefers considerate artistic interventions.
- New Ears is a series of workshops and educational events for young and adult audiences focused on sound art and contemporary music.
