Annotation:

The exhibition MediaLab* Back to the Future at the Medium Gallery offers a look at the results and philosophy of one of the departments of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, which creates technological, theoretical and interpersonal background for the study of important phenomena such as time, interactivity and multimedia in (visual) communication.

The MediaLab* studio is a specialised space within the Department of Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (Multimedia Studio), it deals with practical issues of working with technology, but also discusses the broader contexts of multimedia culture. The essence of the work in the lab is an experimental approach to a problem or a project, which implies exploring and breaking the boundaries of a given field in order to discover innovative and unconventional solutions and approaches.

The exhibition traces the activities of MediaLab* to date, presenting not only a selection of representative works, but also a new online archive of projects created by MediaLab* students over the past fifteen plus years. Their scope is quite broad: animation, game design, video, sound projects and video clips, digital applications, interactive objects and installations, so the exhibition draws the audience into an exploration of the principles of artistic work with technology and offers an experience of the use of different media.
