Ján Kekeli: Healing
We cordially invite you to the opening and exhibition
Ohyb Gallery, Palackého 5, Bratislava
Annotation
The title of the exhibition Healing refers to various forms of recovery – of the body, experience, and relationships. The starting point of the presented series of photographs by Ján Kekeli was a knee injury the artist sustained while climbing – an activity that is deeply defining for him.
The images were created during the period of injury, recovery, and gradual return to movement. However, Kekeli does not create a document in the traditional sense of the word; rather, he shapes a visual map of a process in which physical injury becomes an impulse for the revitalisation of relationships – with loved ones, with space, and with himself.
Here, photography functions as a tool of sensitisation: it allows the artist to slow down, reconsider his own limits, and relearn the way he inhabits the world. Healing thus takes place not only on the physical level, but also on the level of identity, memory, and interpersonal bonds.

The exhibition was supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council in the form of a scholarship.
