FRANTIŠEK DEMETER (1975) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. He is one of the artists of postconceptual thinking. His key elements included the deconstruction of the hanging picture and the processuality, visibility and thematization of the basic features of conceptual creation, but this also involved the need for a new material design and poeticism. In 2017, Demeter reached a radical break with painting and picture-object in his extended field, and embarked on an examination of the prerequisites of painting through his own post-conceptual positions.
In 2015 he was a finalist of the Oscar Čepan Award. Recent exhibitions include separate projects Diffuse Concentration (Brno House of Arts), Open form (Blansko City Gallery) “I have nothing” (Gallery ± 0,0, Žilina 2017), Large Canvas (Gallery 19, Bratislava 2017), “Nothing but the surface” (SPZ Gallery Prague 2014), “NO YES NO” (Krokus Gallery, Bratislava 2014) and other group exhibitions at home and abroad.
