MEDIUM Gallery, Hviezdoslavovo sq. 18, Bratislava

Opening: March 9, 2023, 6 p. m.

exhibition duratio: March 3 - April 16, 2023

The intention of the PETRŽALSKA PLAVÁREŇ project is to map and draw the visitors' attention to the urban development of the last three decades in the district of Petržalka, which is gradually changing the (out)lived image of Petržalka as a socialist "rabbit hutch", a failed experiment of a utopian vision of better tomorrows, or of Petržalka as a dark place full of hooligans and outcasts.

The culmination of the project is the publication of a guide to the contemporary architecture of Petržalka in the form of a booklet with photographs of more than 94 buildings forming the new face of Petržalka. These will be marked with GPS coordinates and the names of the streets on which they are located and accompanied by a comprehensive map with the location of the buildings.

Filip Bielek is a graduate from the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. In 2014 - 2015 he completed a study stay at UAP Poznań (PL). Exhibitions (selected): Figurama (Dom umenia, Bratislava, SK, 2013), K.E.G.A. - Short-term Aesthetic Gravitation of Authors (MEDIUM Gallery, Bratislava, SK, 2016), or 100 years of Czechoslovakia (Nová Cvernovka, exhibition space Zborovňa, Bratislava, SK). His project "Red Post Office" (visual projection on the facade of the building of the post office no. 55 in Petržalka) was included in the book publication "Urban Interventions 2015".
