Annotation
The exhibition presents the diploma works of students from the Department of Photography and New Media, Karla Šavrtková and Valeriia Eriomenco, who use photography, archive, and video to analyse how identity is shaped in the space between personal experience and broader social, ideological, and gender structures.
Both works are connected by an understanding of photography as a threshold space. The image here is not a fixed representation of reality, but a place of tension or transition: between the past and the present, between reality and fiction, between home and its absence, between the one who looks and the one who is depicted. The threshold functions here as a shared authorial position – a place between distance and closeness, from which the authors reflect on their own experience within a broader social context. It is a point of rupture, where established images are disturbed and the possibility opens up to enter something new, unknown, and not yet explored. This transitional position enables the imagination of other forms of being, memory, and relationships. As the beginning of something that is only just searching for its shape.
We look forward to seeing you!
