AFAD at the Jerusalem Design Week 2022
We are pleased to present our project entitled "Name of the Project" at Design Week in Jerusalem, whose theme this year is "For Now". During the week from June 23 to 30, our students from the Departments of Visual Communication and Design will work and create on site.

Name of The Project is a playground where elementary actions are repeated as a metaphor for design education, resulting in a simple space with its own limits and possibilities. Students from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava demonstrate iteration processes through the act of painting, and seemingly ceaseless repainting. They work, and change, according to a shared schedule, receiving free time to relax, and logistic help from others. Upon completing a unit, a “whole-room painting”, they prepare the room for other students, and the process repeats until the end of Design Week. An important part of the students’ presence in their project is the possibility to meet fellow students and peers from Israeli schools. By inviting them to partake in the project, the students can get to know each other through shared physical work, and intellectual and/or informal communication, forming a basis for future collaborations with local academies.
About the Jerusalem Design Week
Since 2011, Jerusalem Design Week is the largest and most influential public design event in Israel. In 2016, the Design Week expanded, becoming an international event held in several locations throughout Jerusalem, offering a multitude of events, performances and local and international design exhibitions. Hansen House hosts diverse activities throughout the year to promote Israeli designers and the design sector in Jerusalem. Jerusalem Design Week is the main event in the tapestry of Hansen House’s annual activities, constituting its flagship project as the largest and most influential public design event in Israel. Each year, Jerusalem Design Week focuses on a central annual theme concerning situations that are at once unique to Jerusalem and Israel, and of international relevance, stemming from the idea that Israel’s cultural landscape allows it to serve as a kind of living laboratory for the exploration of urgent global issues, and based in the belief that design must respond to such issues. Jerusalem Design Week was initiated by the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage and the Jerusalem Development Authority, and is managed by the Ran Wolf Company.
