Selection procedure - associate professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, Bratislava, in accordance with Section 52(1) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on amendments to certain acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Act”), hereby announces a selection procedure to fill the positions of university teacher – Associate Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, as follows:

Platform for Digital Arts

  • University teacher in the position of Associate Professor for co-teaching the compulsory profile course Studio – Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and for teaching theoretical and practical courses focused on the history, theory, and practice of digital arts in the Bachelor’s degree programme Digital Arts and in the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts, within the field of study Art and study programmes in the field of Arts and Culture Studies, assigned to the Digital Arts Platform, with the possibility to act as a guarantor (programme leader) in the position of Associate Professor.

Qualification requirements

EDUCATION:

  • completion of second-cycle higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “Associate Professor” before 1 September 2020, or
  • completion of third-cycle higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “Associate Professor”, or
  • completion of third-cycle higher education without being awarded the artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “Associate Professor”. The candidate must demonstrate fulfilment of the criteria corresponding to the required level for obtaining the title of Associate Professor at a higher education institution in the relevant field of habilitation proceedings assigned to the field of study to which the position relates. Within the conditions of the institution, this means meeting the Qualification Criteria for Habilitation Proceedings (Annex No. 1).
  • at least 5 years of teaching experience (including doctoral studies),
  • defence of a written teaching concept,
  • ability to independently contribute to the operation of the study programme, lead workshops, and actively participate in public presentations, residencies, study trips and international work-related travel,
  • ability to adapt timewise and coordinate with the platform and university team (a necessary time commitment to work at AFAD),
  • research capabilities,
  • knowledge of English and the ability to operate in an international environment and cooperate with international students.

Required documentation for the selection procedure:

  • application form – written request for participation in the selection procedure including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection, as amended. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact details – email, telephone number, and the exact title of the position applied for.
  • structured CV (containing only name and surname, without personal data and photograph),
  • officially certified copy of the document confirming the highest level of education attained (second or third cycle), (internal employees are not required to submit officially certified documents; a copy is sufficient),
  • extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
  • written teaching concept,
  • documents in accordance with the Selection Procedure Guidelines and the published call (Annex No. 3), for candidates with third-cycle education without the title “Associate Professor”,
  • brief portfolio of artistic and/or scientific activity,
  • overview of teaching activity (length of teaching experience, courses taught, etc.),
  • overview of artistic, professional and publishing activity (where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • overview of artistic-scientific, professional and publishing activity (where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • affidavit on other employment relationships with higher education institutions in Slovakia and abroad, concluded for performing work as a university teacher or researcher, including information on weekly working time (for the purposes of Section 49(5) of the Higher Education Act).

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB flash drive).

In the case of educational documents issued abroad, an official translation into Slovak is required.


Salary conditions:

in accordance with Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on the remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, i.e. according to the specific salary tariff scale for university teachers.

expected job duties in accordance with Section 52 of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.
