"Karol Weisslechner is a graduate of the Department of Architecture at VŠVU in Bratislava under Vojtech Vilhan (1980 – 1988). After college, he worked at the Department of Architecture, at the Architráv Studio of VŠVU (1990 – 1995). In 1995, he took over the jewelry studio from the internationally recognized jeweler Anton Cepka and he is still its leader, today under the name Ateliér S + M + L_XL – METAL AND JEWELRY.The name expresses the expansion of teaching according to the concept of Karol Weisslechner, which includes, in addition to the creation of author's jewelry (S), tableware and smaller interior objects (M), as well as artefact designs for the interior (L) to large-scale exterior objects (XL) In 2006, he became a professor and in the years 2007-2012 he was the rector of the University of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
His work has a wide scope, it moves between free art, design and architecture. In his teaching concept, he emphasizes the process of creation, searching and discovering innovative solutions."
