The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, pursuant to Section 77(1) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended, announces a selection procedure to fill a vacant position of a university teacher in the position of
- Professor
A university teacher in the position of professor for leading the teaching of the compulsory course Studio within the study programme Architectural Design at all three levels of study in the field of Arts, assigned to the Department of Architectural Design, with the possibility to act as a responsible person or chief responsible person in the position of professor.
Admission requirements:
- Education
– completion of second-level higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “professor” before 1 September 2020, or
– completion of third-level higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”, or
– completion of third-level higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “associate professor”, without having been awarded the artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”. The applicant shall demonstrate fulfilment of the criteria resulting from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at the higher education institution in the relevant field of the inauguration procedure assigned to the field of study to which the position relates, which under the conditions of the Academy means meeting the Quantitative Criteria for Inauguration of the selected field of study, which form Annex No. 4, or
– completion of second-level higher education with the awarded artistic-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “associate professor” before 01.09.2020; without having been awarded the artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”. The applicant shall demonstrate fulfilment of the criteria resulting from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at the higher education institution in the relevant field of the inauguration procedure assigned to the field of study to which the position relates, which under the conditions of the Academy means meeting the Quantitative Criteria for Inauguration of the selected field of study, which form Annex No. 4
- obtaining the artistic-pedagogical title “professor” or obtaining the artistic-pedagogical title “associate professor” while demonstrating fulfilment of the criteria resulting from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at the higher education institution in the relevant field of the inauguration procedure assigned to the field of study to which the position relates, which under the conditions of the Academy means meeting the Quantitative Criteria for Habilitation of the selected field of study, which form Annex No. 4
- artistic-pedagogical practice of at least 10 years, of which at least 3 years after obtaining the title “associate professor” in the field in which the position of professor is filled or in a related field;
- integrity,
- participation in the selection procedure,
- successful completion of the selection procedure.
Required documentation for the selection procedure:
- Application form – a written request to participate in the selection procedure, including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on personal data protection, as amended. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact (email, phone), and the exact title of the position the candidate is applying for
- Structured CV,
- officially certified copy of the document on obtained second-level higher education, or also third-level education. Internal employees do not need to submit certified copies of education documents.
- officially certified copy of the decree awarding the artistic-pedagogical title “associate professor”, if applicable. Internal employees do not need to submit certified documents.
- extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
- brief portfolio of artistic or scientific work,
- overview of artistic, professional and publication activity (if possible documented by CREUČ and CREPČ extracts),
- teaching concept in both printed and electronic form,
- affidavit on other employment relationships with higher education institutions in Slovakia or abroad for work as a university teacher or researcher, including weekly working hours (for the purpose of compliance with Section 74(5) of the Higher Education Act),
- overview of artistic-pedagogical activity (length of teaching practice, supervision of final theses),
- overview of grant, project and organisational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB drive).
General admission requirements:
- fulfilment of the required admission conditions,
- complete submission of the required documentation,
- participation in the selection procedure.
Course of the selection procedure:
- presentation of artistic, scientific and pedagogical activities,
- presentation of the proposed teaching concept,
- discussion with the committee members and defence of the submitted teaching concept.

Salary conditions:
according to applicable legal regulations, Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, i.e. according to the specific salary scale for university teachers

Further details on the selection procedure, admission requirements and required documentation:
- The filling of the position is carried out in accordance with the approved number and structure of positions at AFAD.
- The selection procedure verifies the applicant’s abilities and professional knowledge required for the job.
- The selection procedure for professor and associate professor positions also serves as a selection procedure for a university teacher position.
- All required documentation must be submitted in Slovak. Documents proving education and academic/artistic/scientific titles issued abroad must be officially certified and translated into Slovak (except Czech documents, which do not require translation).
