Body in Action

A series of workshops within the Performance Laboratory brings three different approaches to working with the body, movement and relationships in the wider ecosystem. From exploring death as a transformational process, through slow micro-gestures and small victories, to somatic research of the body as a system, the workshops offer space for movement research, sensitive attention and collective thinking. They are intended for all those interested in performativity, body consciousness and creative processes that go beyond the anthropocentric perspective.

Viktória Revická: Death in the Ecosystem

The Death in the Ecosystem workshop is based on the idea of death not as a definitive end, but as a change of state – part of the cycle of decomposition and the continuation of life in another form. It focuses on movement research into the transformation of a non-human body: the moment when internal processes stop, activity shifts to the outside, and the body becomes part of a broader ecosystem – soil, compost, or fertilizer for another life. The workshop also raises the question of to what extent the understanding of death as finality is an anthropocentric construct.

Viktória Revická is a visual artist and performer. In her work, she connects performativity with text, food, fermentation, and plants, and explores the relationships between the human and the more-than-human environment. She is a graduate of the Department of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava.

Jelisaveta Rapaić: Small Victories, Micro-Wins

3. 3., 10. 3. and 17. 3. 2026, 10:00 – 13:00

Jelisaveta Rapaić: Small Victories, Micro-Wins

The three-part workshop Small Victories, Micro-Wins focuses on micro-movements and small gestures that have the ability to create images, move objects and bodies, and change perspectives or trajectories – in individuals, communities, and the environment. It works with themes of slowness, perseverance, repetition, small sacrifices, holding space, and resistance. Participants will engage in individual and collective activities based on radical presence and intentional slowness that lead to subtle but significant shifts. The workshop will include work with embroidery, semantics, stop-motion animation, shadow theater, and pattern design, as well as discussions on personal and collective strategies for small victories.

Jelisaveta Rapaić is an artist, curator and researcher. In her practice, she works with textiles, micro-movements, slowness and repetition, focusing on feminist perspectives, care and collective processes. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in intermedia art, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in art theory.

Anka Sedláčková: Body as a System

Anka Sedláčková: Body as a System

The workshop within the Performance Laboratory focuses on developing creativity, self-development and body awareness through movement in conjunction with selected principles of the Body–Mind Centering® system. The work is divided into two thematic areas: embodiment of body systems and principles of movement development. Through somatic exercises, participants will explore the relationship between the internal processes of the body, movement and perception, as well as the possibilities of their application in performative and creative practice. The workshop emphasizes individual experience, sensitivity to the body, and open forms of movement research.

Anka Sedláčková is a dance pedagogue, choreographer, and certified Body–Mind Centering® teacher and therapist. Her practice focuses on somatic experiences, developmental movement patterns, open forms of composition, and the connection between dance and science.
