CE ZA AR 2021 – nominácie
We are very pleased that among this year's nominees for the Award for Architecture 2021 is the interdepartmental project Amber Road, in the category Exterior. Teachers and students of the departments of architecture, painting, sculpture and intermedia created these interventions in the public space of Petržalka. The project of our graduates from the Department of Architecture, Martin Varga and Martin Kvitkovský, is also among the nominees.

The idea of interventions arose within the interdisciplinary project Amber Road. In parallel with the ancient trade route connecting northern and southern Europe, we are renewing cooperation at various levels: between teachers and students of architecture, sculpture, painting or media, between university, municipalities and local organizations, between professionals and the general public. The result is three collective works along the Croatian arm. On the one hand, they react to the given situations in the park in connection with the planned tram line, while on the other hand they form methods that allow each project to work with the same rules, but with the potential for a different result elsewhere.

UHROVEC CASTLE - FARM BUILDING

Uhrovec Castle, located high in the Strážovské vrchy and hidden off all trade routes, is still the best-preserved castle ruin in Slovakia. The comprehensive renovation of the late Renaissance Farm Building in the lower courtyard of the castle is a milestone in its further renovation and at the same time sets new criteria for monumental restoration in our region. The three-storey building with a mixed function serves as an exhibition space with a common room and accommodation facilities for visitors as well as people involved in further systematic renovation. Traditional building materials, classic craftsmanship and many details that seemed lost bring life back to the abandoned complex.
