The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, with its registered seat at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, Bratislava, in accordance with Section 52(1) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education and on amendments and supplements to certain acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Act”), announces a selection procedure for the position of university teacher – assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava as follows:
University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor
University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor for teaching specialized courses focused on jewellery-making technologies, specialized metalwork, digital technologies, construction principles in jewellery, metallography, and stone cutting in the Bachelor’s degree programme Applied Arts and the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts, in the field of study Art, assigned to the Department of Applied Arts.

Qualification requirements/conditions:
third-cycle higher education degree in the relevant field,
at least 3 years of teaching experience (including doctoral studies),
creative and artistic-research abilities,
defence of a written teaching concept and an adequate portfolio of artistic activity,
ability to independently contribute to the operation of the study programme, lead workshops, and actively participate in public presentations, residencies, study trips, and international work-related travel,
ability to adapt timewise and coordinate with the department, study programme, and university team (a necessary time commitment to work at AFAD),
knowledge of English and the ability to operate in an international environment and cooperate with international students,
candidates may also come from an international background; however, active communication skills in Slovak or Czech are required, as they are essential for teaching specialized courses, ensuring student safety, and maintaining the smooth running of classes.

application – written request for participation in the selection procedure including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection, as amended. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact details – email, telephone number, and the exact title of the position applied for.
officially certified copy of the document confirming the highest level of higher education attained (internal employees are not required to submit officially certified documents; a copy is sufficient),
extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
written teaching concept,
brief portfolio of artistic and/or scientific activity,
overview of teaching activity (length of teaching experience, courses taught, etc.),
overview of artistic, professional and publishing activity (where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ),
overview of artistic-scientific, professional and publishing activity (where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ),
affidavit on other employment relationships with higher education institutions in Slovakia and abroad, concluded for performing work as a university teacher or researcher, including information on weekly working time (for the purposes of Section 74(5) of the Higher Education Act)
all documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB flash drive)
in the case of educational documents issued abroad, an official translation into Slovak is required.
Salary conditions:
in accordance with Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on the remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, i.e. according to the specific salary tariff scale for university teachers.
