Selection procedure for the position of university teacher Sculpture, Object, Installation

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, Bratislava, in accordance with Section 52(1) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on amendments to certain acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Act”), hereby announces a selection procedure to fill the positions of university teacher – Assistant Professor and Professional Lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, as follows:

University Teacher in the Position of Assistant Professor

University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor for the teaching of the compulsory course Sculpture Studio in Context and the teaching of specialized courses focused on sculptural technologies and techniques (digital reproduction technologies) in the Bachelor’s degree programme Intermedia (specialization: Sculpture) and in the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts (specialization: Sculpture), in the field of study Art, assigned to the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation.
University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor for the teaching of the compulsory profile course Preparatory Sculpture Course and the teaching of specialized courses focused on sculptural technologies and techniques (wood) in the Bachelor’s degree programme Intermedia (specialization: Sculpture) and in the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts (specialization: Sculpture), in the field of study Art, assigned to the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation.
University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor for the teaching of the compulsory profile course Preparatory Sculpture Studio and the teaching of specialized courses focused on sculptural technologies and techniques (digital 3D modelling – sculpture) in the Bachelor’s degree programme Intermedia (specialization: Sculpture) and in the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts (specialization: Sculpture), in the field of study Art, assigned to the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation.

Qualification requirements:

third-cycle university degree in the relevant field,
at least 3 years of teaching experience, including doctoral studies,
creative and artistic-research skills,
defence of a written teaching concept and an adequate portfolio of artistic activity,
ability to independently contribute to the operation of the study programme, lead workshops, and actively participate in public presentations, creative residencies, study trips and international business trips,
ability to adapt timewise and coordinate with the team of the department, study programme and university; a necessary time commitment to work at AFAD,
knowledge of English and the ability to operate in an international environment and cooperate with international students.

University Teacher in the Position of Professional Lecturer

University teacher in the position of Professional Lecturer for the teaching of the compulsory course Free Sculpture Studio and the teaching of specialized courses focused on sculptural technologies and techniques (stone) in the Bachelor’s degree programme Intermedia (specialization: Sculpture) and in the Master’s degree programme Visual Arts (specialization: Sculpture), in the field of study Art, assigned to the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation.

Qualification requirements/conditions:

second-cycle university degree in the relevant field,
teaching experience is welcome,
defence of a written teaching concept,
ability to independently contribute to the operation of the study programme, lead workshops, and actively participate in public presentations, creative residencies, study trips and international business trips,
ability to adapt timewise and coordinate with the team of the department, study programme and university; a necessary time commitment to work at AFAD,
knowledge of English and the ability to operate in an international environment and cooperate with international students.

Required documentation for the selection procedure:

application form – written application for participation in the selection procedure, including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection and on amendments to certain acts, as amended. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact details – email, telephone number, and the exact title of the position for which the candidate is applying.
structured CV – containing only the candidate’s name and surname, without personal data or a photograph,
officially certified copy of the document confirming the highest level of education attained (second or third cycle). Internal employees do not need to submit officially certified education documents; a copy of the document confirming the highest level of education attained is sufficient.
extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
written teaching concept,
brief portfolio of artistic and/or scientific activity,
overview of teaching activity, including length of teaching experience, names of courses taught, etc.,
overview of artistic, professional and publishing activity, where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ,
overview of artistic-scientific, professional and publishing activity, where possible documented by extracts from CREUČ and CREPČ,
affidavit on other employment relationships with higher education institutions based or operating in the Slovak Republic and abroad, concluded for the performance of work as a university teacher or research worker, including information on weekly working time, for the purpose of proving the fact under Section 74(5) of the Higher Education Act,
all materials must be submitted in both printed and electronic form on a USB flash drive,
in the case of education documents issued abroad, an official translation into Slovak is also required.

Salary conditions:

in accordance with the applicable legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on the remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, i.e. according to the special salary tariff scale for university teachers.

Job description:

the expected job description is in accordance with Section 75 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.
