Annotation:

Artistic Research in Discussion, a collection of texts from a conference with international participation, is a contribution to the contemporary professional debate on the nature, transformations and direction of artistic research. It addresses the relationship between artistic research and artistic creation, artistic research and scientific research, the procedures and methods of artistic research, the possibilities of generalization and uniqueness of artistic knowledge, the forms of artistic research in different kinds of art, the historical forms of artistic research, and finally the refinement of the conceptual apparatus for the analysis of artistic research. The authors of the texts are leading experts from the Czech and Slovak Republics who have long been engaged in the practice and reflection of research in the field of art. The outcomes of the conference and discussions on artistic research are continuously applied to the teaching process at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in the subjects of doctoral studies Artistic Research-Theory and Artistic Research-Practice.

The conference Artistic Research in Discussion was held at the AFAD on 27-28 May 2024.
