Lecture, discussion and performance within the exhibition Weapons. Landscape. Home.
On the occasion of the closing of the exhibition Weapons. Landscape. Home. we invite you to a lecture by BOHDANA HRYNDA: Learning Contemporary Art in Uncertain Times: From Conceptual Foundations to Practice-Based Education.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion with the exhibition's authors, Anastasia Trykoz and Iryna Priakhina.
At 5:00 PM, a performance by Aliona Korchan titled Ball Lightning will take place.
The lecture will present the educational program and the core pedagogical principles of the Department of Contemporary Art Practices at the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Bohdana Hrynda, a lecturer of the department, will guide us from the founders’ initial visions of the program, through the various challenges it has gradually faced, to its current dynamic form as a response to the artistic, social, and institutional conditions during the time of full-scale war. Bohdana will focus in particular on the institutional and cultural dimensions of the department’s program, both within the Ukrainian system of art education and in its overlaps with the international context.
The lecture will be held in English language.
The exhibition is made possible with the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme and is the result of several years of collaboration between partner institutions: the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (Studio Photography, Reality, Construction; Department of Art Theory and History; International Department), with the support of Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Marcel Benčík, and the Lviv National Academy of Arts (Department of Contemporary Art Practices).
