AFAD and Collaboration
We present to you another episode from the film series created on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of our school, produced in collaboration with director Soňa Maletz. Through these short films, we aim to show not only the inner workings of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, but also the themes that interest us within student assignments, artistic and scientific research, as well as the values we strive to uphold at our institution.
This film about our school is dedicated to one of the most essential principles of both our creative work and our functioning as an institution — collaboration. Yet we do not confine this collaboration within the walls of AFAD; although we often work across departments and artistic media, our partnerships extend far beyond the school itself. The film presents concrete projects in which our students, as well as members of the teaching staff and entire studios, collaborated with external partners, non-profit organisations, and public institutions.
You will learn more not only about our approach to collaboration as such, but also about projects such as the campaign We Are Here for President Zuzana Čaputová against violence against women; the restoration of heritage sites in cooperation with the Bratislava City Museum; educational environmental projects and exhibitions with WWF; and further initiatives realised with the NGO Cesta von or with Red Nose Clowndoctors.
