Gathering

The exhibition Gathering, presented at the Slovak Institute in Prague, showcases works by students and graduates of the Department of Textile Art at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. It features textile objects and tapestries that are thematically rooted primarily in the artists’ personal experiences and their reflections on social issues. Textile is understood here as a medium shaped by context and the process of its creation, while the term “gathering” refers to the collecting of materials, people, and experiences, as well as to the collective nature of making. The exhibition connects intimate textile objects with functional elements that encourage meeting, sharing, and physical presence, creating a space that can be not only observed but also actively inhabited.
