1. Who can apply for the additional admission procedure for Bachelor's studies
An applicant for Bachelor's studies at the AFAD (Academy of Fine Arts and Design) may become a student of the chosen study programme only after successfully completing the admission procedure. If the applicant has obtained complete secondary education or complete secondary vocational education, they may apply for the admission procedure at AFAD in the prescribed manner.
If the admission examinations at AFAD, or the application submission deadline, take place before the applicant’s secondary school leaving examination (maturita), the applicant is admitted conditionally. Final admission is subject to successfully passing the secondary school leaving examination. Proof of completed secondary education (a certified copy of the school leaving certificate) must be submitted within ten days after passing the examination, but no later than the enrolment date.
All international applicants must have a command of the Slovak language at level B1 before the start of their studies (except for applicants from the Czech Republic).
International applicants and applicants who have studied abroad must, if admitted, submit a decision on the recognition of their education obtained abroad no later than enrolment (September 2026).
If a higher education institution issues educational documents after the enrolment date (later than September), we do not recommend applying, or we recommend applying in the following academic year.

Admissions Committee
The tasks and parts of the entrance exam are evaluated by at least a five-member admissions committee appointed by the rector. Members are university teachers with artistic-pedagogical titles (professor, associate professor, or assistant professor).
Each task is graded on a six-point scale (0–5 points).
To advance to the second round, at least 50% of the maximum score must be achieved (in some cases 45%). Applicants who advance will be notified.
Results of the first round will be published within 30 days, and selected applicants will receive an invitation to the second round.
University Admissions Committee
This committee reviews and verifies the results and ranking of applicants and may adjust them by majority vote.
The final decision on admission is made by the rector, and applicants will be informed within 30 days after the process ends.
Decision on Admission / Non-Admission
Applicants who are not admitted may submit a request for review within 8 days of receiving the decision. Only procedural aspects are reviewed, not the quality of the work.
