2.2.1 Fine Arts

Fine Arts

Profile:
Doctoral graduates in  field 2.2.1 Fine Arts demonstrate their competence and readiness for independent, creative and research activities in the field of liberal or applied arts. They can present the results of these activities to the public as well as they are prepared to participate in forming new trends and concepts in these areas. The doctoral graduates are capable of studying foreign literature in the original. Their language proficiency at least in one world language (in spoken and written form) enables them to communicate the message of their work. 

The doctoral graduate can be employed as: an independent artist, university pedagogue.

2.2.6 Design

Design

Profile:
Doctoral graduates in Design demonstrates their competence and readiness for independent, creative and research activities in the field of design and related fields. They are prepared to present and participate in forming new trends and concepts in this field. The doctoral graduates can master research and artistic methods and techniques in the creative design work. They are capable of studying foreign literature in the original and they are  fluent at least in one world language (in spoken and written form). 

The doctoral graduate can be employed:
as an independent artist, design team leader, design research worker, university lecturer, art publicist.

2.2.7 Architecture

Architecture

Profile:

Doctoral graduates in  Architecture – Doctorates of Architecture demonstrate their competence and readiness for independent, creative and research and scientific activities in the field of architectural theory and practice.  They can present the results of these activities to the public moreover they are willing to participate in the development of this field. The doctoral graduates are capable of studying foreign literature in the original and they are fluent in one or more world languages (in spoken and written form). 

The doctoral graduate can be employed as: an independent architect, research and scientific worker, planning and research team leader, university pedagogue.

2.2.8   Conservation and Restoration

Conservation and Restoration 

Profile:

Doctoral graduates in Restoration– Doctorates of Restoration - demonstrate their competence and readiness for independent, creative and research activities which are based on the knowledge of the current situation in this field.  They can present the results of these activities to the public moreover they are willing to participate in the development of this field. The doctoral graduates are capable of studying foreign literature in the original and they are fluent in one or more world languages (in spoken and written form). 

The doctoral graduate can be employed as: an independent restorer, research and scientific worker, head of the restoration institutes, professional consultant, university pedagogue.

2.2.18 History and Theory of Fine Arts and Architecture

History and Theory of Fine Arts and Architecture 

Profile:

Doctoral graduates in History and Theory of Fine Arts and Architecture can work in the field of art, art history, architecture, science, education as well as in curating and custody of galleries and museums. Similarly they can succeed in art criticism, art- historical writing for specialized periodicals and various general mass-media. The doctoral graduates can be employed as scientists in various institutes of human sciences e.g. at the Institute of Art History of SAS (Slovak Academy of Sciences), or Institute of History of SAS, Institute of Construction and Architecture of SAS, Institute of Ethnography of SAS, they can also work as members of scientific and pedagogical staff at individual university departments (e.g. Department of Art History, Ethnography, Aesthetics at  Faculties of Philosophy or  the Department of Architecture at AFAD or FA STU), applied research specialists in  art galleries and different types of museums (curators of collections, and commissioners of exhibition events, in the field of judicial knowledge and counselling in art trade), in institutions of monument preservation, in libraries, archives, and they can also work as university lectures in individual branches of human sciences or as secondary school teachers. They can also work in the field of art criticism and art-historical writing, they can work in various publishing houses, daily newspaper periodicals and in art and cultural institutions, in the state administration focused on culture or in the sphere of cultural tourism.
