Interruption of study

A student may apply to interrupt his/her studies for a minimum of one semester  to a maximum of two years, mainly due to  health or other compelling personal reasons, however, unsatisfactory achievements cannot be considered to be the reason for the interruption of studies. The student applies for the interruption of studies prior to the beginning of the academic year or summer semester. Only in exceptional and unambiguously justified cases the interruption of studies is permitted during the semester.

The interruption of studies is permitted by the Rector who also determines its beginning and ending. If the studies are interrupted due to maternity leave and consequently due to parental leave, the maximum length of interruption of studies is three years, otherwise the total length of interruption of studies may not exceed two years during the entire bachelor’s and master’s degree study.

The student who interrupts his/her studies ceases to be an AFAD student within the date of the interruption. During the interruption, the student is not entitled to have student's rights and obligations and cannot take exams. The length of interruption is not included in the total length of the studies. The student becomes an AFAD student within the date of re-enrolment.
