Students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava worked on various assignments under the guidance of the French designer Éric Jourdan in the Studio of the visiting professor during his teaching stay. The given topics were focused on the development of students’works in the commercial production or public space.
The exhibition in the Gallery MEDIUM features a collection of furniture and objects which were designed as a part of the competition organized by a corporation. The students’ task was to develop their personal style considering aesthetic and commercial parameters of the company. The second topic was focused on the analysis of the urban territory including the expected development of Bratislava in its intensive mutation. Some students worked on the design of an urban totem, which symbolizes the best what this city produces and offers on a daily basis. A totem can also serve as a source of information or as a meeting point. In both cases the AFAD students have demonstrated a particularly free approach which does not concern fashionableness and trends but it has contributed to the development of their design career.
The project has been made possible by public support from Bratislava Self-Governing Region
