Selection procedure - professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 77, paragraph 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Act on Higher Education Institutions"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of university teachers in the functional position of professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava as follows:


Department of Theory and History of Art

  • University teacher in the position of professor responsible for teaching theoretical subjects focused on the history and theory of art and architecture in the study program History and Theory of Art and Architecture at the doctoral level of study and in the study program History and Practice of Contemporary Art at the master's level of study in the field of Art and Culture Studies. And for teaching theoretical subjects focused on the history and theory of art and architecture in all study programs and levels in the study field Art and affiliated with the Department of Theory and History of Art with the possibility of serving as a responsible person or head responsible person in the position of professor.

Admission Requirements:

  • EDUCATION:
    • completion of higher education at the second level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “professor” before 01.09.2020, or,
    • completion of higher education at the third level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”, or,
    • completion of higher education at the third level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “docent”, without the award of the art-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”. The applicant must demonstrate the fulfillment of the criteria arising from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at a university in the relevant field of the Inaugural procedure, which is assigned to the study field to which the function is linked, which in the conditions of the University means that the applicant must meet the Quantitative criteria for inaugurations of the selected study field, which are outlined in Annex No. 4.
    • completion of higher education at the second level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or scientific-pedagogical title “docent” before 01.09.2020; without the award of the art-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title “professor”. The applicant must demonstrate the fulfillment of the criteria arising from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at a university in the relevant field of the Inaugural procedure, which is assigned to the study field to which the function is linked, which in the conditions of the University means that the applicant must meet the Quantitative criteria for inaugurations of the selected study field, which are outlined in Annex No. 4.
  • obtaining the art-pedagogical title “professor” or obtaining the art-pedagogical title “docent” by simultaneously demonstrating the fulfillment of the criteria arising from the required level of criteria for obtaining the title of professor at a university in the relevant field of the inaugural procedure, which is assigned to the study field to which the function is linked, which in the conditions of the University means that the applicant must meet the Quantitative criteria for habilitations of the selected study field, which are outlined in Annex No. 4.
  • art-pedagogical practice lasting at least 6 years, with at least 3 years from the award of the title “docent” in the field in which the professor position is being filled or in a related field;
  • integrity,
  • participation in the selection process,
  • successful completion of the selection process.

Required Documentation for the Selection Process:

  • application – written request to participate in the selection process with the consent for the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the protection of personal data and on the amendment of some laws. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact – email, phone, and the exact name of the job position the candidate is applying for.

  • Structured CV* (including name and surname without personal data and photograph),
  • officially verified copy of the document proving higher education at the third level,
  • officially certified copy of the decree granting the applicant the art-pedagogical title “docent” or “professor”, if the applicant holds this title,
  • extract from the criminal register not older than 3 months,
  • brief portfolio of artistic or scientific activities,
  • overview of artistic, professional, and publishing activities (if possible, document with CREUČ and CREPČ records),
  • teaching concept,
  • honorary statement regarding other employment relationships with universities operating in the territory of the Slovak Republic or abroad, as well as agreements related to the work of university teachers and research workers including weekly working hours (for the purpose of verifying the fact according to § 74 para. 5 of the Higher Education Act),
  • overview of art-pedagogical activities (length of teaching experience, supervision of final theses),
  • overview of the applicant’s grant, project, and organizational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
  • other documents in accordance with the Selection Process Principles and the published announcement of the selection process, (Annex No. 4), for applicants with third level education and without the award of the art-pedagogical title “professor”.

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on USB stick).

In the case of internal employees, it is not necessary to submit officially verified education documents, a copy of the education document is sufficient.


General Admission Requirements:

  • fulfillment of the required admission conditions,
  • complete submission of required documentation for the selection process,
  • personal participation in the selection process.

Selection Process Procedure:

  • presentation of artistic or scientific and pedagogical activities,
  • presentation of the proposed teaching concept,
  • discussion with the commission members and defense of the submitted teaching concept.

Salary Conditions:

according to the valid legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 on the remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, i.e., according to the special pay scale of university teachers.


Further details on the announced selection process, admission conditions, and required documentation for the selection process:

  1. The filling of the specified position and function takes place in connection with the approval of the number and structure of positions at the VŠVU.
  2. The selection process verifies the capabilities and professional knowledge of the applicant, which are necessary or appropriate in relation to the nature of the duties the employee will perform in the position or function being filled.
  3. The selection process for the position of professor and docent is also a selection process for filling the position of a university teacher.
  4. The required documentation for the selection process, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. If the documents proving the achieved education, academic, artistic, or scientific titles are issued in a foreign language, they must be officially verified in the prescribed manner and officially translated into Slovak. Documents issued in Czech do not require an official translation into Slovak.

 

* Structured CV of the selected candidate and unsuccessful candidates will be published in accordance with § 77 para. 7 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on the amendment of some laws within 5 working days after the selection process is completed on the faculty's website for 90 days.
