Selection procedure - associate professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 77, paragraph 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Act on Higher Education Institutions"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of university teachers in the functional position of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava as follows:


Theory and History of Art

  • University teacher in the position of associate professor for teaching theoretical subjects focusing on medieval and modern art in all study programmes and levels of the study field of Art and for ensuring the teaching of theoretical subjects focusing on medieval and modern art in the study programme History and Theory of Fine Art and Architecture at the doctoral level and in the study programme History and Practice of Contemporary Art at the master's level in the study field of Art and Culture Sciences, with the possibility of acting as a teacher in the position of associate professor.

Qualification requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of higher education at the second level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or the academic title "associate professor" before 01.09.2020, or
  • Completion of higher education at the third level with the award of the art-pedagogical title or the academic title "associate professor," or
  • Completion of higher education at the third level, without the award of the art-pedagogical or academic title "associate professor." The candidate must demonstrate meeting the criteria resulting from the required level for obtaining the title of associate professor at the appropriate university in the relevant field of habilitation proceedings, which corresponds to the study field linked to the position, meaning that the candidate must meet the qualification criteria for habilitation proceedings (Annex No. 4).

Other qualification requirements

  • Art-pedagogical practice lasting at least 3 years (including doctoral study),
  • Knowledge of a world language – English, level: B2 (intermediate).

Required documentation for the selection process:

  • Application – written request for participation in the selection process with consent for the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the protection of personal data and amendments to certain laws. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact – email, phone, and the exact name of the position the candidate is applying for.

  • Structured CV* (excluding personal data and photograph),
  • Officially certified copy of the third-level university degree certificate,
  • Officially certified copy of the decree awarding the title "associate professor," if the candidate holds this title,
  • Criminal record extract not older than 3 months,
  • Brief portfolio of artistic or scientific activities,
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and publishing activities (if possible, document with CREUČ and CREPČ records),
  • Overview of artistic-scientific professional and publishing activities (if possible, document with CREUČ and CREPČ records),
  • Concept of teaching,
  • Affidavit regarding other work relations with universities in Slovakia or abroad, including employment as a university teacher and researcher, indicating the weekly working hours (to prove compliance with § 74, paragraph 5 of the Higher Education Act),
  • Overview of art-pedagogical activities (length of teaching experience, supervision of theses),
  • Overview of the applicant's grant, project, and organizational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
  • Other documents in accordance with the Principles of the Selection Process and the published selection notice (Annex No. 4), for candidates with third-level education without the art-pedagogical title "associate professor."
  • Consent to the processing of personal data.

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB stick).

For internal employees, it is not necessary to submit officially certified education documents; a copy of the education certificate will suffice.


General admission conditions:

  • Meeting the required admission conditions,
  • Complete submission of the required documentation for the selection process,
  • Personal participation in the selection process.

Selection process procedure:

  • Presentation of artistic or scientific and pedagogical activities (approx. 15 minutes),
  • Presentation of the proposed teaching concept (approx. 15 minutes),
  • Discussion with the commission members and defense of the proposed teaching concept.

Salary conditions:

In accordance with the applicable legal regulations, Act No. 553/2003 Coll. and Government Regulation No. 296/2022 Coll., Annex No. 6, Special Salary Tariff Scale for University Teachers and Research and Development Employees

Job description:

In accordance with § 75, paragraph 3 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and amendments to certain laws.


Other details about the announced selection process, admission conditions, and required documentation for the selection process:

  1. Filling the listed position and function is carried out following the approval of the number and structure of positions at VŠVU.
  2. The selection process verifies the candidate's abilities and professional knowledge, which are necessary or suitable for the nature of the responsibilities the employee will perform in the position or function for which the selection process is announced.
  3. The selection process for the position of professor and associate professor is also a selection process for filling the position of university teacher.
  4. The required documentation for the selection process, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. Documents proving completed education, academic, artistic, and scientific degrees, and qualifications must be officially certified and translated into Slovak if issued in a foreign country. Documents issued in Czech do not require an official translation into Slovak.
