Selection procedure for the position of university teacher Printmaking and Other Media

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 77, paragraph 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Act on Higher Education Institutions"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of university teachers in the functional position of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava as follows:

Department of Printmaking and Other Media

  • University teacher in the position of Associate Professor responsible for teaching the compulsory course Studio focusing on the overlaps of printmaking media in the Bachelor's study programme Printmaking and Other Media and in the Master's study programme Visual Arts, specialization Printmaking, in the field of study Arts, affiliated with the Department of Printmaking and Other Media.

Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of a second-cycle university degree with the award of an artistic-pedagogical title or a scientific-pedagogical title "Associate Professor" before September 1, 2020, or,
  • Completion of a third-cycle university degree with the award of an artistic-pedagogical title or a scientific-pedagogical title "Associate Professor," or,
  • Completion of a third-cycle university degree without the award of an artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title "Associate Professor." The candidate must demonstrate fulfillment of the required level of criteria for obtaining the title Associate Professor at the university in the relevant field of the Habilitation procedure assigned to the field of study associated with the position, which, in the conditions of the university, means meeting the Qualification Criteria for the Habilitation Procedure (Annex No. 1).

Additional Qualification Requirements

  • At least 3 years of artistic-pedagogical experience (including doctoral studies),
  • Knowledge of a world language – English, level: B2 (upper-intermediate).

Required Documentation for the Selection Process:

  • Application – a written request for participation in the selection process, including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact (email, phone), and the exact title of the position applied for.

  • Structured CV* (including name and surname but excluding personal data and a photograph),
  • Officially certified copy of the third-cycle university degree diploma,
  • Officially certified copy of the decree awarding the candidate the artistic-pedagogical title "Associate Professor," if applicable,
  • Criminal record extract not older than 3 months,
  • Brief portfolio of artistic or scientific activities,
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and publishing activities (if possible, supported by an extract from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Overview of artistic, scientific, and professional activities (if possible, supported by an extract from CREUČ and CREPČ),
    • Prepared concept for the compulsory course Studio focusing on the overlaps of printmaking media in the Bachelor's study programme Printmaking and Other Media in the field of study Arts and in the Master's study programme Visual Arts, specialization Printmaking in the field of study Arts.
  • Affidavit on other employment relationships with universities located or operating in Slovakia and abroad, stating weekly working hours (for the purpose of proving compliance with § 74 (5) of the Higher Education Act),
  • Overview of artistic-pedagogical activities (length of teaching experience, supervision of final theses),
  • Overview of grant, project, and organizational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
  • Other documents as per the Rules of the Selection Procedure and the published announcement of the selection procedure (Annex No. 1) for candidates with a third-cycle degree but without the award of the artistic-pedagogical title "Associate Professor."
  • Consent to the processing of personal data.

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB key).

Internal employees do not need to provide officially certified copies of education documents; a simple copy of the diploma is sufficient.

General Admission Conditions:

  • Meeting the required admission conditions,
  • Complete submission of the required documentation for the selection process,
  • Personal participation in the selection process.

Selection Process:

  • Presentation of artistic, scientific, and pedagogical activities (approx. 15 min.),
  • Presentation of the proposed teaching concept (approx. 15 min.),
  • Discussion with the committee members and defense of the proposed teaching concept.

Salary Conditions:

According to the applicable legal regulations in accordance with Act No. 553/2003 Coll. and Government Regulation of the Slovak Republic No. 296/2022 Coll., Annex No. 6 Special Salary Scales for University Teachers and Research and Development Staff.

Job Description:

In accordance with § 75 (3) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended.

Further details on the announced selection process, admission conditions, and required documentation:

  1. The filling of the specified position and function is carried out in connection with the approved number and structure of positions at AFAD.
  2. The selection process verifies the abilities and expertise of the candidate that are necessary or suitable in view of the nature of the duties the employee is to perform in the job position or function for which the selection process is announced.
  3. The selection process for the position of Professor and Associate Professor is also a selection process for filling a university teaching position.
  4. The required documentation for the selection process, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. If the documents proving education, acquisition of academic, artistic, and scientific titles and degrees were issued in a country other than Slovakia, they must be officially certified in the prescribed manner and officially translated into Slovak. Documents issued in Czech do not require official translation into Slovak.

 

*The structured professional curriculum vitae of the selected applicant and unsuccessful applicants will be published in accordance with § 77 para. 7 of Act No. 131/2002 on Higher Education and Amendments to Some Laws, within 5 working days after the selection procedure, on the faculty's website for a period of 90 days.
