Selection procedure - associate professor (studio lead)

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 77, paragraph 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Act on Higher Education Institutions"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of university teachers in the functional position of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava as follows:


Department of Architecture

  • University teacher in the position of Associate Professor for teaching the compulsory subject Studio in the study programme Architecture in the study field of Art, assigned to the Department of Architecture.

Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of higher education (2nd level) with the academic-artistic or academic title of “docent” awarded before 01.09.2020, or
  • Completion of higher education (3rd level) with the academic-artistic or academic title of “docent” awarded, or
  • Completion of higher education (3rd level) without the title of “docent”. The candidate must demonstrate that they meet the criteria required to obtain the title of docent at the relevant university in the given field of habilitation. At VŠVU, this means they must meet the Qualification Criteria for the habilitation procedure (Annex No. 1).

Other qualification prerequisites

  • At least 5 years of teaching experience,
  • Knowledge of a world language – English, level: B2 (intermediate)
  • Publication activity,
  • Clean criminal record,
  • Participation in the selection procedure,
  • Successful completion of the selection procedure.

Required documentation for the selection procedure:

  • Application – a written request to participate in the selection procedure, including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the protection of personal data. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact (email, phone), and the exact name of the job position the applicant is interested in.

  • Structured CV* (with name and surname, WITHOUT personal data and photo),
  • Officially certified copy of the 3rd level higher education diploma,
  • Officially certified copy of the decree awarding the title “docent” if applicable,
  • Criminal record extract not older than 3 months,
  • Brief portfolio of artistic or scientific activities,
  • Overview of artistic, professional and publication activities (if possible documented via CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Overview of art-scientific, professional and publication activities (if possible documented via CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Teaching concept,
  • Affidavit on other employment relationships with universities in Slovakia or abroad, stating the weekly working hours (for compliance with § 74 sec. 5 of the Higher Education Act),
  • Overview of artistic and pedagogical activities (length of teaching practice, supervision of final theses),
  • Overview of grant, project, and organizational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
  • Other documents in accordance with the Rules of the Selection Procedure and the published announcement (Annex No. 1) for candidates with a 3rd level education and without the title of “docent”.
  • Consent to the processing of personal data.

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB key).

Internal employees do not need to submit certified copies of education documents – a simple copy is sufficient.


General admission requirements:

  • Meeting the required admission conditions,
  • Complete submission of the required documentation for the selection procedure,
  • Personal participation in the selection procedure.

Selection procedure process:

  • Presentation of artistic, scientific, and pedagogical activities (approx. 15 min.),
  • Presentation of proposed teaching concept (approx. 15 min.),
  • Discussion with the committee and defense of the submitted teaching concept.

Salary conditions:

Salary conditions: according to the applicable legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 on the remuneration of employees in public interest – i.e., according to the special salary tariff scale for university teachers.

Job description:

Expected job description in accordance with § 75 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.

  1. The advertised job position is based on the approved number and structure of jobs at AFAD.
  2. The selection procedure verifies the abilities and expertise required or appropriate for the nature of the duties of the position being filled.
  3. The selection procedure for the position of professor or associate professor is also a procedure for filling a university teacher position.
  4. The required documentation, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. Diplomas and certificates from foreign institutions must be officially certified and translated into Slovak (except those in Czech).
