Selection procedure – assistant professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, located at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, Bratislava, in accordance with § 77(1) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Higher Education Act"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of higher education teachers in the functional position of Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, as follows:


Department of Theory and History of Art

  • University teacher in the position of assistant professor for teaching theoretical subjects focusing on applied arts, visual communication, and design in study programs in the field of Art at the bachelor’s level of study, in study programs in the field of Art at the master's level of study, and in the study program History and Practice of Contemporary Art in the field of Arts and Culture at the master's level of study, based at the Department of Theory and History of Art.

Qualification Requirements

  • Completed higher education at the second or third level in the relevant field of study,
  • teaching experience is a plus,
  • Defended written concept of teaching.

Required Documentation for the Selection Process:

  • Application – written request to participate in the selection process, with the consent for the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and on the Amendment of Certain Laws, as amended. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact – email, phone, and the exact name of the job position for which the candidate is applying.

  • Structured Curriculum Vitae* (including name and surname, excluding personal data and photo),
  • Officially certified copy of the document proving higher education at the second and third levels,
  • Criminal record not older than 3 months,
  • Written concept of teaching,
  • Short portfolio of artistic or scientific activity,
  • Overview of teaching activity (length of teaching experience, titles of taught subjects, etc.),
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and public activity (if possible, substantiated by the CREUČ and CREPČ extract),
  • Overview of artistic-scientific professional and public activity (if possible, substantiated by the CREUČ and CREPČ extract),
  • Honorable statement about other employment relationships with universities in Slovakia and abroad, concluded for the performance of university teaching and research work, including the weekly working hours (for the purpose of proving the fact under Section 74, Paragraph 5 of the Higher Education Act),
  • Consent for processing of personal data.

All documents must be submitted both in print and electronic form (on a USB drive).

In case of internal employees, it is not necessary to submit officially certified documents of education; a copy of the education document is sufficient.


Salary Conditions:

According to the valid legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 on the remuneration of employees in public service, i.e., according to the special scale of salary tariffs for university teachers.

*Structured professional CV of the selected candidate and unsuccessful candidates will be published in accordance with Section 77, Paragraph 7 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and amendments to certain laws, on the faculty’s website for 90 days, within 5 working days after the completion of the selection process.
