Selection procedure – assistant professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, located at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, Bratislava, in accordance with § 77(1) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Higher Education Act"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of higher education teachers in the functional position of Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, as follows:


Department of Theory and History of Art

University teacher in the position of assistant professor with a 50% part-time contract to teach theoretical subjects focusing on the theory and history of earlier art (especially medieval and modern art), iconography, and iconology in the study programs in the field of Art at the bachelor's level, in the study programs in the field of Art at the master's level, and in the study program History and Practice of Contemporary Art in the field of Art and Culture Studies at the master's level, under the Department of Theory and History of Art.

Qualification Requirements

  • Completed third-level higher education in the relevant study field, or ongoing doctoral studies.
  • Pedagogical experience of at least 3 years (including doctoral studies).
  • Defense of a written concept of teaching methodology.

Required Documentation for the Selection Procedure:

  • Application – written request for participation in the selection procedure, including consent for the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and amendments to some laws. The application must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact details – email, phone, and the exact title of the position the candidate is applying for.

  • Structured Curriculum Vitae* (including name and surname, excluding personal data and photograph),
  • Officially certified copy of the diploma for second and third-level higher education,
  • Criminal record extract not older than 3 months,
  • Written concept of teaching methodology,
  • Short portfolio of artistic or scientific activity,
  • Overview of pedagogical activity (length of pedagogical experience, names of taught subjects, etc.),
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and public activity (if possible, supporting documents from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Overview of artistic-scientific professional and public activity (if possible, supporting documents from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Written concept of teaching methodology in both printed and electronic form,
  • Statement regarding previous employment in higher education institutions in Slovakia or abroad, including data on the weekly working time (for the purpose of demonstrating the fact under §74 para. 5 of the Higher Education Act).

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB stick).

In the case of internal employees, no certified documents on education are required, only a copy of the educational document.

 


Salary Conditions:

According to the valid legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 on remuneration of employees in the public interest, i.e., according to the special scale of salary tariffs for university teachers.

Employment Terms:

Expected employment terms in accordance with § 75 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education as amended.

  • The filling of the specified position and function is conducted following the approval of the number and structure of positions at the VŠVU.
  • The selection procedure will verify the candidate's abilities and professional knowledge necessary or suitable for the responsibilities required in the position or function for which the selection procedure is announced.
  • Required documentation for the selection procedure, including the application, must be submitted in the Slovak language. For documents proving attained education, academic, artistic, and scientific titles, and artistic and scientific qualifications, these must be officially verified and translated into Slovak if issued in a foreign country. Official translation into Slovak is not required for documents issued in the Czech language.

 

*The structured professional CV of selected candidates and unsuccessful candidates will be published in accordance with § 77 para. 7 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and amendments within 5 working days from the selection procedure on the faculty's website for 90 days.
