Selection procedure - 4x associate professor

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, with its registered office at Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18, in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 77, paragraph 1 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Act on Higher Education Institutions"), announces a selection procedure for filling the positions of university teachers in the functional position of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava as follows:


Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation

  • University teacher in the position of associate professor for leading the compulsory course "Sculpture Studio" in the Bachelor's program in Intermedia (specialization in sculpture) and in the Master's program in Visual Arts (specialization in sculpture) in the field of Art, at the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation.

Department of Photography and New Media

  • University teacher in the position of associate professor for leading the compulsory course "Protoatelier" in the Bachelor's program in Photography and New Media in the field of Art, at the Department of Photography and New Media.

Drawing Cabinet

  • University teacher in the position of associate professor for leading the course "Drawing" in the Bachelor's program in Design and in the Bachelor's program in Architectural Creation in the field of Art, at the Drawing Cabinet.

Department of Intermedia

  • University teacher in the position of associate professor for leading the compulsory course "Intermedia Studio" focused on interdisciplinary and contemporary art in the Bachelor's program in Intermedia and in the Master's program in Visual Arts in the specialization of Intermedia in the field of Art, at the Department of Intermedia.

Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of higher education at the second level, with the awarding of the artistic-pedagogical title or the scientific-pedagogical title "associate professor" before 01.09.2020 or,
  • Completion of higher education at the third level, with the awarding of the artistic-pedagogical title or the scientific-pedagogical title "associate professor" or,
  • Completion of higher education at the third level, without the awarding of the artistic-pedagogical or scientific-pedagogical title "associate professor". The candidate must prove that they meet the criteria required to obtain the title of associate professor at a university in the relevant field of the habilitation procedure, which is related to the study field for which the position applies, meaning that they must meet the qualification criteria for habilitation procedure (Annex No. 1).

Other Qualification Requirements

  • At least 3 years of artistic-pedagogical practice (including doctoral studies),
  • Knowledge of a world language – English, level: B2 (intermediate).

Required Documentation for the Selection Procedure:

  • Application – a written request for participation in the selection procedure, including consent for processing personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments to Certain Acts. The application must contain: personal data – first name, last name, address, contact – email, phone, and the exact title of the job position the candidate is applying for.

  • Structured CV* (without personal data and photo),
  • Officially certified copy of the document confirming completion of higher education at the third level,
  • Officially certified copy of the decree granting the candidate the artistic-pedagogical title "associate professor", if the candidate has obtained this title,
  • Criminal record extract not older than 3 months,
  • Brief portfolio of artistic or scientific activities,
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and public activities (if possible, with documentation from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Overview of artistic-scientific professional and public activities (if possible, with documentation from CREUČ and CREPČ),
  • Concept of teaching,
  • Statement of other employment conditions with universities and institutions, both within Slovakia and abroad, regarding the employment of university teachers and researchers, with weekly working time specified (for verification according to § 74 par. 5 of the Higher Education Act),
  • Overview of artistic-pedagogical activities (length of pedagogical practice, supervision of final theses),
  • Overview of the candidate’s grant, project, and organizational activities (research projects, conferences, workshops, etc.),
  • Other documents as specified in the selection procedure announcement and published guidelines (Annex No. 1), for candidates with a third-level education and without the artistic-pedagogical title "associate professor".
  • Consent to processing of personal data.

All documents must be submitted in both printed and electronic form (on a USB stick).

In the case of internal employees, official certified documents on education are not required; a copy of the educational certificate will suffice.


General Admission Conditions:

  • Fulfillment of the required admission conditions,
  • Complete submission of the required documentation for the selection procedure,
  • Personal attendance at the selection procedure.

Selection Procedure Process:

  • Presentation of artistic or scientific and pedagogical activities (approx. 15 min.),
  • Presentation of the proposed teaching concept (approx. 15 min.),
  • Discussion with committee members and defense of the presented teaching concept.

Salary Conditions:

According to the applicable legal provisions of Act No. 553/2003 on the remuneration of employees performing work in the public interest, according to the special salary scales for university teachers.

Job Assignment:

The anticipated job assignment is in accordance with § 75 of Act No. 131/2002 on Higher Education as amended.


Further Details about the Selection Procedure, Admission Conditions, and Required Documentation:

  1. The appointment for the position and function is in accordance with the approved number and structure of positions at VŠVU.
  2. The selection procedure verifies the skills and expertise of the candidate necessary or suitable for the duties related to the position or function.
  3. The selection procedure for the position of professor and associate professor is also the procedure for appointing a university teacher.
  4. The required documentation for the selection procedure, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. Officially certified documents in foreign languages must be translated into Slovak, and if issued in Czech, an official translation is not required.

 

*The structured professional CV of the selected and unsuccessful candidates will be published within 5 working days after the selection procedure on the faculty website for 90 days, in accordance with § 77 (7) of Act No. 131/2002 on Higher Education.
