Selection procedure for the position of university teacher Printmaking and Other Media

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, in accordance with § 77 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments to Certain Acts as amended, and in accordance with the Principles of the Selection Procedure for Filling Research Positions and Positions of Professors, Associate Professors, and University Teachers, announces an open selection procedure for the following academic position:

Assistant Professor

University teacher in the position of Assistant Professor for the teaching of the subject Graphic Techniques and for assisting students in the printmaking studio within the scope of the required working hours outside direct teaching of the course Graphic Techniques at the Bachelor’s level and within the study programme Visual Arts at the Master’s level, specialization Graphic Art, in the field of study Art, at the Department of Graphics and Other Media.

Qualification requirements:

  • Completed second level of higher education in the relevant field,
  • Teaching experience is welcome,
  • Proficiency in graphic techniques in general, with an emphasis on advanced knowledge of relief printing techniques,
  • Active artistic practice,
  • Knowledge of English at level B1 or higher.

Required documentation for the selection procedure:

  • Application – written request to participate in the selection procedure including consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments to Certain Acts. The application (must include: personal data – name, surname, address, contact – email, phone, and the exact title of the position the candidate is applying for). Link to the application form.
  • Structured CV,
  • Officially certified copy of a document confirming the attainment of a Master’s (second-level) or Doctoral (third-level) degree,
  • Extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months,
  • Brief portfolio of artistic or research activities,
  • Overview of teaching experience (length of teaching practice, names of courses taught, etc.),
  • Overview of artistic, professional, and publishing activities (if possible, documented through CREUČ and CREPČ records),
  • Written concept of teaching, in both printed and electronic form,
  • Sworn statement regarding other employment relationships with higher education institutions based or operating in the Slovak Republic or abroad, concluded for the performance of the work of a university teacher or researcher, including information on weekly working hours (in accordance with §74 section 5 of the Higher Education Act).

All materials must be submitted both in printed and electronic form (on a USB drive). In the case of internal employees, it is not necessary to attach officially certified copies of educational documents.

Salary conditions:

In accordance with the applicable legal regulations of Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on the Remuneration of Employees Performing Work in the Public Interest, i.e., according to the specific pay scale for university teachers.

Further details regarding the announced selection procedure, admission requirements, and required documentation:

  1. The filling of the announced position is carried out in connection with the approved number and structure of positions at the AFAD.
  2. The selection procedure serves to verify the candidate’s abilities and expertise required or suitable for the duties associated with the advertised position.
  3. The required documentation for the selection procedure, including the application, must be submitted in Slovak. Documents proving education, academic, artistic, or scientific degrees obtained abroad must be officially certified, officially translated into Slovak, and officially recognized under the applicable Act on the Recognition of Foreign Education Documents. Documents issued in Czech do not require translation into Slovak.
