Studio vvv (visual, verbal, public)
The name of the Studio vvv (visual. verbal. public.) is some sort of poetic abbreviation, a symbol of the focus of this creative environment.
Working with images (visual.)—with an infinite set of possible perceptions, from classic techniques of depiction, typography, digitally modified data to video, objects, performances and theatre,… and text (verbal.) in its poetic and philosophical nature, from rap music to essay—is inevitably a certain form of social stance and opinion (public.). We may often perceive our actions as apolitical, if we talk about them in this way, but we at the Studio vvv, within the artistic creation, understand each of our actions as a political affair, social comment or, in some cases, naturally, an unequivocal effort for change. The word “public” refers to the studio’s intention of heading towards “outside”, particularly towards outside of the educational establishment. However, it intends to use this establishment as a „laboratory“, as a place for the cultivation of linguistic devices or discussion within the studio’s collective itself and with external guests and the public.
The laboratory of reading, discussions, experimenting and critical thinking,… a space for collaboration in a safe and inclusive environment.
The Studio vvv is a big fan of interdisciplinarity and collaboration. For visual artists, it is always enriching, if they are in a continuous contact with performative, dance, music, film or literary creation… therefore, we intend to invite guests, people from different cultural platforms—from sociologists to rappers, from scientists to performers. We want to continue in a long-term cycle and subject called SOFT NORM, during which, through lectures, diverse experts introduce theories and thoughts from different fields, which could eventually become a source of inspiration for students’ work.
A few words instead of a conclusion.
The openness of the Studio vvv can be aptly illustrated by a simple word play. Instead of each “v”, anyone can use a meaning that would fulfil his/her reflection on art and society in these liquid times.
Very many other words…
