Imago Mundi presents - on Tuesday 19th June in Bratislava (Medium Gallery, 6 pm) - “A Look from the Bridge. Contemporary Artists from Slovakia”, the volume (Fabrica graphic design, 262 pages, € 19) that forms the Slovakian collection of the contemporary art project promoted by Luciano Benetton.

A valued piece of the great Imago Mundi mosaic (26 thousand artists involved in more than 150 collections), “A Look from the Bridge. Contemporary Artists from Slovakia” is a visual story that reflects a creative community which experiences art as a space for freedom, vision and reflection. The 143 artists move and interact with a wide range of techniques, themes, suggestions, influences, ancient traditions, and snapshots of the future.

“I truly believe that the art expressed in this collection”, says Liliana Malta, curator of the collection, “becomes a tool for social and political criticism; it focuses on gender and identity issues, minorities, inclusion, exclusion, nationalism, xenophobia, individual and collective memory.”

The Slovak collection is currently enjoying its première in Trieste, as a protagonist - alongside 39 other collections - of the exhibition ‘Join the Dots -Unire le distanze’ (Salone degli Incanti, until 2nd September).
There are more than 6,300 works on display in an artistic itinerary of land and sea, which, setting out from one of the most fascinating cities of the Italian north, takes the visitor to the North Sea coast and to legendary Baghdad, from sunny Morocco to the Danube steppes, to the Baltic beaches and the Negev desert.

Imago Mundi is the non-profit contemporary art project promoted by Luciano Benetton: artists from all over the world, both established names and emerging talents, express themselves using the same format, the 10x12 cm canvas; to date more than 25 thousand artists have been involved from over 150 countries, regions and native communities. The artists are promoted internationally through catalogues, the imagomundiart.com web platform, Google Arts & Culture and participation in exhibitions and shows.
